It is always better to have a donut over a store-bought muffin. Want some proof? I visited the nutritional info on a website for Canada’s largest coffee chain, here is some of the information I found. The problem with this is the advertising and mislabeling of foods….

Here is a list of Tim Hortons “Healthy” Muffins

  • Whole Grain Blueberry
  • Whole Grain Raspberry
  • Blueberry Bran
  • Cranberry Blueberry Bran
  • Raisin Bran
  • Low Fat Cranberry
  • Low Fat Blueberry

Since I can’t compare them all lets pick the super healthy sounding Whole Grain Blueberry and compare it with my favorite an apple cinnamon donut.

Whole Grain Blueberry has

Calories: 380
Fat: 15 grams
Protein: 6 g
Carbs: 58 g

Fibre: 5g
Sugar 27 grams

Apple Cinnamon Donut

Calories: 240
Fat: 15 grams
Protein: 3 g
Carbs: 25 g

Fibre: 1g
Sugar: 11 grams
