Ever work out and feel ok untill the next day? Well there is a scientific term for that and its kind of a good thing. Its called D.O.M.S which stands for Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness. Usually your muscles start to feel tight after about 24 hours and that feeling can last up to 5-7 days depending on how you care for your body. Just like most things fitness related there is some back and forth as to what exactly causes it. However the most common believed reason is that working out, running, etc… cause stress to your muscles and connective tissues. Usually you feel it more after a hiatus but because our bodies are highly adaptive the more you workout the less pain you feel. So next time your sore a little while after a workout take an advil (if its ok with your Doctor) have a nice warm bath and do some light massaging on the area. Most importantly dont panic!!! It will go away and its not an excuse to skip a workout!!!
